Welcome and Introduction

This blog space is for people who are caring for a young person close to them who is suffering from a serious mental illness.

It might be your child, your sibling, your relative or your friend. One in four of us will suffer from a mental illness at some time in our life but many will recover.

Some don't recover and the end result can be devastating.

This site aims to provide a space where you can ask questions, talk about your experience and what did and perhaps didn't help. It hopes to fill a gap which health services don't cater for - providing information that you can consider in your struggle to assist your young person on the road to wellness.

You can spread the word about any services, tips, or others news to others in your situation.

This chat room is a work in progress and born out of desperation at not finding the support and information I needed when my daughter was seriously and chronically ill and I did not know where to turn.

The views expressed on here are not from medical professionals, but ordinary people in the front line, caring for young people with a serious illness. As such it is not meant as a substitute for consulting a health professional.

It is meant to support you in what can be a lonely journey.

Thank you for subscribing and the very best wishes in your fight to help the one you love.

Congratulations on setting up a blog/forum that will help other parents to share experiences.
